MODULAR WASTE WATER TREATMENT FACILITIES, TYPE BIOFILTER 12-30 FOR UP TO 1500 POPULATION EQUIVALENT
The treatment facility consists of two tanks, installed one on top of the other, and operates like a low load dripping Biofilter. The waste water arrives in the bottom tank, where sedimentation of the undissolved substances is performed. Inside it, the installed submersible pump pumps the treated water and sends it to the top tank, pouring it onto the top-installed filtering media. Falling down in small droplets the treated water is saturated with oxygen from the air and thus, aerates itself, and the microorganisms would stick onto the filtering media, decompose the organic matter dissolved in the water, purifying it in this way. The pump permits achieving of a great percentage of recirculation of the treated water – up to 20 times. Using the pump control one can achieve the required purification effect with optimum consumption of energy. The filtering media has great specific surface – more than 100m2/m3 and provides good conditions for growth of fixed biomass and contact of the water with air.
To guarantee good conditions for aeration and ventilation of the facility, an option for forced ventilation is provided by means of an electrical fan operated simultaneously with the pump for recirculation.
It is recommended, if possible, that one of the vents of the facility should be installed above the roof of the building, in order to provide better natural ventilation.
